The Milwaukee Bucks have four major owners, three of which have higher stakes in the organization. One of these three is Wes Edens. Wes Edens is the founder of Fortress Investment Group. He started the firm in 1998 and still acts as chairman. When the company went public in 2007 Edens officially became a billionaire. He has a net worth of 1.2 billion dollars.
One of the other four primary owners, along with Wes Edens, is Marc Lasry. Lasry established Avenue Capital Group in 1995. He is the CEO of the organization, and he is worth 1.8 billion dollars, which provides some insight into how he could afford to be one of the primary owners. Marc was born in Morocco, but eventually moved to the United States with his family when he was seven. Lasry is also very politically active in the democratic party.
The third primary owner is James Dinan. Dinan went to Harvard Business School where he received his MBA. He then founded a money management firm named York Capital Management in 1991. He is still CEO and Chairman of the firm. Dinan’s net worth is also in the billions.
The fourth major owner, although he has more minor stakes in the team, is Michael Fascitelli. Fascitelli has a net worth of 71.5 million. Fascitelli attended Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration where he received his MBA. He then worked in the Real Estate department of Goldman Sachs in 1985.
The current owners of the Milwaukee Bucks purchased the team for $550 million in 2014.
