The Citizen App has been rapidly gaining popularity across the US as a tool for people to enhance their safety and security. Likely, you are also considering getting the app to keep yourself safe. Unfortunately, the app is only available in 24 major cities at the moment. However, its management has promised to roll out the app in more cities soon. Despite this, it’s vital that you know more about the app where it’s already available in your city, or it will be coming soon.
How it works
This safety application has been praised for the accuracy of its security updates. These security updates are created by a team of security experts working at an intelligence office in each of the 24 cities. These security experts listen to 911 communication across a city and figure out what security intelligence might be helpful for its community there.
The team then develops a shorthand message with the security update, which it shares with its community living within a mile of the security incident. The Citizen App security updates are designed to be short and easy to understand to ensure that those who receive it can quickly understand it and act.
Since its launch, this safety app has always allowed its community to share security updates on the events happening close to them. However, not so long ago, it took this a notch higher when it started allowing the users to share videos too. Keep in mind that moderators always check the videos to ensure that they meet community guidelines before being allowed on the platform. Go here to read additional information about them.
The Citizen App has also joined the global efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic by adding the SafeTrace feature to the app. This feature allows its community to do contact tracing when they come across other users who have been diagnosed with Covid-19.
